5G+FWA, New Opportunities in Overseas Markets

Driven by the national strategy of "Broadband China" and the national policy of "Increasing Speed and Reducing Fees", China's broadband industry has developed rapidly. By the end of November 2020, China's optical fiber users accounted for 93.4% of the total broadband users, and users of 100Mbps and above accounted for 89.4%. In rural area and countryside, 98% of administrative villages have achieved "double access" (optical fiber and 4G).

In overseas countries, few of them can reach the level of China's infrastructure deployment, thus FWA has become a common means to replace broadband. Take the U.S as an example. The fiber network coverage rate in the United States is only 32%. Head operators such as Verizon and AT&T have announced that entering into the field of FWA is their first choice. Especially during the epidemic, a stable and high-speed network has become an urgent need for people to work or study from home. With the development of 5G communication technology, 5G FWA has become a new opportunity in the overseas market to replace optical fiber.


What is FWA?

FWA (Fixed Wireless Access) is to provide users with Internet services through 4G/5G and other wireless access methods, rather than copper cable or optical fiber. So far, more than 120 countries around the world have deployed 4G FWA solutions on more than 492 networks, providing services to 100million families. LTE based FWA has been proved that it can provide continuous high-quality broadband access in various scenarios and different market conditions. It is estimated that by 2022, LTE based FWA services will account for more than 40% of all fixed wireless broadband users, of which 5G FWA service users will account for 16%.

MeiG Smart’s 5G Module Helps the Practice and Development of FWA Products

Since 19 years, MeiG Smart has released a number of 5G module products based on Qualcomm snapdragon X55 modem and RF system, and proposed customized solutions for FWA products based on 5G modules simultaneously, establishing good cooperative relations with many overseas customers.

MeiG Smart's new generation 5G M2M module series products - Sub-6GHz modules SRM815N, SRM825N, SRM835N and SRM827 series and mmWave modules SRM825WN and SRM827W series, adopt the snapdragon X65 and X62 5G modems and RF systems newly launched by Qualcomm technologies, which is complied with 3GPP R16 standard, and can support higher 5G transmission rate, with better performance and more cost-effectiveness.

At the same time, based on 5G chip platform, MeiG Smart released a new generation of indoor FWA product solutions -- SRT873 and SRT838S, which adopt Qualcomm snapdragon X55 high-speed 5G solution, comply with 3GPP release 15 standard, support independent Networking (SA) and dependent Networking (NSA) network deployment, cover 5G commercial frequency band of global mainstream operators, and are downward compatible with 3G/4G network systems. At the same time, it integrates Qualcomm's next-generation Wi-Fi 6 chip, supports 2.4G/5G simultaneous operation, and supports multiple users to access and enjoy the high-speed network. The new generation of products are deeply optimized in terms of volume and performance, truly realizing "a small body contains great energy".

5G MiFi can convert 5G signals into high-speed Wi-Fi, support simultaneous access to the network through USB 3.0 type-C and Wi-Fi, and support 4G mobile phones, tablets, laptops and other devices to share 5G.

5G CPE can convert 5G signals into high-speed Wi-Fi and Internet port signals, support simultaneous access to the network through Internet port and Wi-Fi, and support the sharing of 5G by mobile phones, tablets, laptops and other devices.

SRT852 supports 5G SA/NSA Sub6G, mmWave, LTE, 3G full network. It enhances the adaptability of network coverage in different regions and the stability of data connection. Wi-Fi 6 AX8400。The theoretical rate reaches 8.4Gbps, and supports Wi-Fi 2.4G, 5.8G and 6G at the same time, meeting the needs of multi-user high-speed wireless internet access, with more than 512 users’ access.

10G network port with POE function, which provides convenience for the power supply of equipment while ensuring high data transmission rate. Just one network cable can meet the requirements of power supply and data transmission at the same time. It is convenient for users to install and maintain. The waterproof and dustproof design of IP67, with the design index of soaking in 1m deep water, fully meets the requirements of outdoor use environment.

At the same time, four groups of high-power QTM527 are integrated, and the ERIP can reach 50dBm, which is the scheme with the highest ERIP index in the industry. High ERIP means a longer communication distance and higher communication stability with the base station.

Considering the outdoor application scenarios, this product has made a unique design in terms of low temperature, high temperature and stability. When it comes to low temperature in winter in high latitude areas, the equipment has a preheating circuit, which can keep the equipment work at the extreme low temperature of -40℃. For high-temperature scenes, the product integrates a large-size heat sink, so that the equipment can work in a high-temperature environment of up to 60℃.
